Diptheria is a febril infectious disease caused by a specific bacillus an characterized by the formation fo a false membrane in the air passages, esp. the throat.
The family ran from the Kaiser into the Russian continent in July 1914 and ruturned lat 1918 or early 1919. They Stoppedin Alexandrofka, near Czar's summer resort (which curiously is in the 1980s a spy school with stages like a modern American city.)
